Current “Home” Town: STOCKHOLM, MAINE
Music Type: Cerebral folk & roots music
For the past 18 years Travis Cyr has been driving his acoustic freight train of cerebral folk & roots music all around the beautiful state of Maine. Quiet and gentle yet vast and strong, his songs are full of vividly honest and poetic lyrics and emotionally percussive acoustic guitar. He has released 7 CD's of all original material including 2 new releases in 2017. He has broken over (aprox.) 2,357 guitar strings (and counting) and played over 1400 shows. He is also the founder of the Arootsakoostik Music Festival and he looks forward to sharing his organic garden of songs with you."
Travis is proud to have shared the stage and worked with Ellis Paul, Brown Bird, Spirit Family Reunion, Toughcats, Ghost of Paul Revere, The Suitcase Junket, the Mallett Brothers and many more...
"Cyr is a rare bird nowadays, a true blue folk singer in the best sense of the word. An intense acoustic firestorm" - Emily Burnham Bangor Daily News. Nov. 2015
Heres some nice words by Bowen Swersey on my all roads music festival appearance in Belfast in May 2017...
"One could say that Aroostook County native Travis Cyr is the heart of Northern Maine’s music scene, and his honest, introspective songs reveal a deeply thoughtful interior within his rugged frame. “Some of What I Have” is the first track on his new album “Stay Glad,” and the song reminds us that within honest self-reflection lies true courage and redemption. His percussive and capable guitar work is truly unique, peppered with pop, pull-offs, and drumbeats on the belly of his Martin, providing a layered rhythm section behind his poetry."
